Helping
Those Who Take the Risks
As many of you have
heard or read, Tim McCreadie of
Watertown, NY received a severe back injury at the
Chili Bowl Midget Nationals at Tulsa (OK) Expo
Speedway Wednesday, January 14th. The injury will
force the popular driver to sit out at least the first
half of the racing season but the long term outlook is
good. That is a silver lining to the cloudy news for
those of us that have followed his career and admired
his many successes in all forms of short track dirt
racing. Tim has even been under the watchful eye of
several NASCAR development teams. For now Tim will
concentrate on healing having learned from his Dad's
(Bob) too early return from a back injury in 1988.
Although the future
looks positive, being a full time racer, Tim had no
additional medical or disability insurance other than
what the event provided. Tony Stewart as well as
several leaders of USAC helped Tim in the immediate
days after the accident and have set up a fund where
anyone can help Tim manage through these months ahead.
Epic Ventures has made a donation to the fund and we
would ask that you consider making even a small
donation as we have learned how quickly a lot of good
wishes can add up to something big. Donations can be
made to the: Tim McCreadie Support Fund c/o USAC, 4910
West 16th St., Speedway, IN 46224.
In related news, we
encourage everyone that plans on attending the
Motorsports Expo at the Syracuse – NYS Fairgrounds
March 14th & 15th (yes it's a 2 day show), to
participate in any of the fund raising efforts by the Spaulding Foundation for Injured
Drivers that weekend. We have
participated in their auction fund raiser for several
years as well as their raffle. The foundation hosts
other fund raising events through out the year and we
appreciate all the hard work the volunteers have
donated and the great benefit they have provided to
those who accept the risks affiliated with this sport
we love so much.
