Early season success and progress for EV group.

With a practice session and two weeks of racing under our belts, the Epic Ventures Team has shown the fruits of the off season upgrades. First we want to congratulate Kris Hilligeer who is our chief chassis advisor on our SST and ROC Modified cars. Kris has won the first two features in the Super Six class at Spencer Speedway. Kris is a past class champion and maintains a competitive but friendly approach to his fellow racers, willing to share advice when asked. The class is growing in car counts and Kris enjoys the added challenge that follows and fans will enjoy watching Kris make his run up through a larger field each week.

Terry Cheetham has earned a 5th and 2nd in the weekly NASCAR Modified division (formerly SST Modified division) at Spencer Speedway. The second place finish represents his highest SST/NASCAR Mod finish since joining forces with our team. We are clearly just a few minor adjustments away from taking that first trip to victory lane. In Terry's own ROC Modified, he has improved his lap times at the one race this year was poised for a top 5 finish when an early race jingle knocked the front end out of alignment resulting in an 8th place finish.

This week we will be entering the #5 in the SST Modified Tour 75 lap race at Oswego Speedway Saturday evening where we hope to improve over our past efforts at the "Steel Palace". Also, the team will see the #89 of Jody London return to the weekly NASCAR Modified class at Spencer on Friday.

Future plans are near completion for a new car in our stable, a #50 ROC Modified which will also honor Tom's father, LaVerne Fecteau, by carrying his car number. The ROC Modified will be piloted by Terry Cheetham and will be shaken down at Spencer Speedway in a couple weeks. Our early plans are to run this car at the higher speed tracks like Lancaster and Oswego. Depending on our testing results, we may have additional news regarding our ROC Modified plans.

And finally, to address a frequently asked question: "Where is Torpedo Tom's car?" Good news, we hope to have it running at Spencer Speedway before the end of June. The car will be for sale in its "turn key" condition as the team has chosen to concentrate efforts on the #5 and new #50 in 2008 as well as maintain support for all our team member's efforts. Tom is looking at ways to stay involved behind the wheel but in a way that can better accommodate his busy travel schedule.

Special Note: Team members can be available to speak at youth or adult functions to talk on topics that involve racing like preparation, maintenance, driving, competition and race day activities. We can also provide talks that go beyond sharing our stories where we draw parallels between performing well in racing and performing well in business, school or life. In addition team founder Tom Fecteau has been a National speaker sharing broader ideas on team performance, sales performance, customer relations and leadership. Maybe we could add a boost to your company, organization or civic group. If you have an idea or just want to share some thoughts, send us an e-mail with the best way to contact you.

Until we see you again, we hope you enjoy our efforts in this thrilling sport of racing.
